Version 0.3


Version 0.3 of Dungeon Mole is out now to try! This update was focused on showcasing the visual style of the game we are aiming to achieve, with lighting, texturing, and animations getting some major work done! We also have added some new interactions between the enemies and the fertilizer that will drastically change your approach to combat!

Enemy Changes

The insectoid enemies you encounter in the underground have a mission; to steal the fertilizer in the underground to power their machines. As a result, enemies that spawn from H.I.V.E.s will now pursue the Fertilizer Roots, and steal the fertilizer to bring back to their HIVE. If they gather enough the Hostility Bar at the top right of the screen will fill up, causing a Game Over. However, this means the enemies won't be dead set on you anymore, so take advantage and set up strong defenses, and break in to destroy the HIVE itself! 

Full Change List

  • Cell Shader Implemented (Credit to Nimble Fox for the Critter 3D Pixel Art Toolkit)
  • God rays and Crystals lights added
  • HIVE fully animated
  • Fertilizer changed to a blue sap, and the crystal fertilizer deposits are now Fertilizer Roots
  • Wall and floor texture added
  • Fertilizer UI changed from a bag to a Watering can
  • Enemies now pursue the Fertilizer Root that is tied to the HIVE they spawn from, and will attack the player if they get within range
  • The Hostility Bar had been added to the top right of the screen, which tracks how much fertilizer the enemies have stolen and brought back to their hives. When it fills up the game ends
  • Death screen added and the player no longer respawns with full health when they die
